I am a member of my local The Compassionate Friends group, a national support group I found on the Hospice Foundation website. Its members are people just like me: people who have lost a child, no matter the age, no matter how long ago. At our meetings, there are no "experts" in the room, no doctors or counselors, just people like me, people who know what it feels like to have lost a child. It is a community built on understanding that offers support, the opportunity to speak honestly and openly, and the solace that can only be offered by those who feel as you feel. If you have lost a child, I want to recommend the group to you. There, you too will find acceptance, friendship, and understanding.
